Camino Scholars:

Lifelong Educational Impact

Camino Scholars, the education program of People’s Self-Help Housing, serves students each year at our rental properties’ Learning Centers. Our curriculum boosts math and literacy skills while providing a stable place to learn, setting students on the path to educational success.

Your Support Makes This Possible:
  • Over 400 students served annually at Camino Scholars Learning Centers across the Central Coast
  • Year-round academic support, including the summer months
  • Significant gains in math and literacy, as shown by standardized test scores
  • College Club: Guiding first-generation students through applications, scholarships, and college life
  • More than 60 students currently pursuing higher education with our support
  • Every dollar helps provide tutoring, technology, and resources for students who need it most

Success Story: Yulisa’s Journey

Yulisa joined Camino Scholars’ College Club in 2018, determined to be the first in her family to earn a college degree. With guidance from Camino Scholars, she navigated the complex world of college applications and scholarships. In Spring 2023, Yulisa graduated from Fresno State University with a degree in criminology. She is debt-free and graduated in just four years, a feat achieved by less than 3% of transfer-intending California community college students! Yulisa’s story is just one example of the life-changing impact your support makes possible.
