Tour Newly-Completed Self-Help Homes in Templeton
by Peoples' Self-Help Housing March 10
Peoples' Self-Help Housing has scheduled a tour of their affordable self-help homes in Templeton 1 p.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The public is invited to visit the site, tour a completed home, view those under construction, and meet the families and staff who have spent over a year building the 33 homes.
The directions to the site are: exit the 101 Freeway at Las Tablas Road. Proceed west on Las Tablas to the stoplight on Bennett Way. Turn right on Bennett Way and proceed to the stop sign at Petersen Ranch Road and turn left. Continue Petersen Ranch Road to Gray Pine Avenue and park near the intersection of the two streets.
The tours will be facilitated by PSHH Self-Help Home Development Director Sheryl Flores, as well as PSHH Construction Supervisors Phil McClintock, Toby Bellocchi & Bonifacio Sota. The project architect is Lauren Luker of ReaL Architects, and landscape architect is Dave Farmer of The Environmental Collaborative.
Founded in 1970, Peoples' Self-Help Housing has developed 1,150 self-help home ownership residences and over 1,350 affordable rental units in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. For 41 years, the non-profit organization has not only developed affordable housing in over 30 cities and communities but has also provided community facilities, supportive housing programs, financial education, and youth after-school education--programs that foster greater self-sufficiency for low-income households, seniors, the formerly homeless, and special needs households.
