Peoples' Self-Help Housing's Kids Receive 20 Tons (50 Pallets) of School Supplies from the International Relief Organization Feed The Children

Hundreds of Children in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo Counties Benefit from Donation

Santa Barbara County, August 17, 2005—Feed the Children, the international humanitarian organization, is donating back to school supplies valued at $145,000, for Peoples' Self-Help Housing's children in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.

Fifty pallets that equal 40,000 pounds of school supplies will be delivered to Peoples' Self-Help Housing's Riverview Town Homes development in Guadalupe and distributed to Peoples' Self-Help Housing's Education Learning Centers and housing sites, particularly those with multi-family residents. The supplies include binders, notebooks, paper, pencils, art supplies, crayons, scissors, etc.

"At Feed The Children, we believe in feeding the mind as well as the body," said Larry Jones, president and co-founder of Feed The Children. "By joining with Office Depot and People's Self-Help Housing today, we are making sure that area children get the supplies and help they need to make the most of their education and create a better tomorrow."

"We are deeply appreciative of this generous donation by Feed the Children and Office Depot," said Jeanette Duncan, Executive Director of Peoples' Self-Help Housing. "This gift frees up costs for additional direct services to our residents, lightens the financial burden of the families who might otherwise have to buy some of these supplies, and recognizes the value of the young minds of our resident children."
