Santa Maria, April 27, 2005Los Adobes de Maria II is the second phase of a permanently affordable town home rental complex, built and developed by Peoples' Self-Help Housingtotaling 117 units at both phases. The project has been hailed as a model solution to address the lack of affordable housing for farm workers and their families. The first phase of Los Adobes de Maria helped the City of Santa Maria win the All America City Award in 2000. Los Adobes de Maria II even drew attention for its innovative concept from Paul Venosdel, California Director of USDA Rural Development, who visited the site last April.
