New Affordable Housing Apartments for Families Break Ground in Paso Robles
Paso Robles, CA., June 21, 2004In their continued mission to increase the amount of affordable housing on the Central Coast, Peoples' Self-Help Housing has begun another Paso Robles development"Canyon Creek Family Apartments," which will provide 68 apartments. The development also includes a large community center, a "tot lot" and play areas.
"Apartments will be rented to households whose incomes do not exceed 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI), adjusted for the family size," explained Jeanette Duncan, Executive Director of Peoples' Self-Help Housing. "A family of 4 will be able to qualify, for example, so long as their income does not exceed $30,850 per year."
The "California Contemporary" style apartments are anticipated to be completed by December of 2005. Applications can be accepted beginning in September of 2005. (The property is located across the street from another Peoples' Self-Help Housing affordable development, Creekside Gardens Senior Apartments, a 29-unit project that began in January, and will be completed by March 31, 2005.)
Partners who helped fund the Canyon Creek Family Apartments include: Alliant Capital, Washington Mutual, USDA Rural Development, California Community Reinvestment Corporation (CCRC), City of Paso Robles Redevelopment Agency, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Affordable Housing Program (AHP) with Bank of the West, County of San Luis Obispo, Rural Communities Assistance Corporation (RCAC), State of California, Department of Housing and Community Development.
Other partners include, Andrew Kerr and Tony McHaney of TRIAD Architecture; Larry Werner of North Coast Engineering; Developer & General Contractor, People's Self-Help Housing Corporation (PSHHC); Property Manager, The Duncan Group (affiliate of PSHHC)
