Santa Barbara Foundation Make Little Lives Brighter with $25,000 Grant for Playground at Dahlia Court Apartments

Carpinteria, CA, July 3, 2002—As part of the final phase of a two-year major renovation by Peoples' Self-Help Housing, the Santa Barbara Foundation has generously approved a grant for $25,000 to purchase playground equipment for the Dahlia Court Apartments in Carpinteria.

"One of the most critical issues facing our community is affordable housing," said Chuck Slosser, President and CEO of Santa Barbara Foundation. "Peoples' Self-Help Housing is addressing this matter head on, and the Santa Barbara Foundation is pleased to assist them with their efforts."

Dahlia Court is a 54 unit permanently affordable low income rental complex for farmworker families and other low wage earners. Dahlia Court provides housing along with resident health, educational opportunities, and other enrichment programs.

"We are grateful that Santa Barbara Foundation has approved funds for playground equipment for the children at Dahlia Court Apartments which will add much joy to their lives," said Jeanette Duncan, Peoples' Self-Help Housing Executive Director.

Peoples' Self-Help Housing is an award winning non-profit organization with over 30 years of experience developing affordable housing and community facilities for low-income and special needs households. PSHH also provides technical assistance in the design and implementation of community development programs for numerous cities, counties, and community groups.
