at Chapel Court Apartments in Carpinteria
In celebration of NeighborWorks Week, June 2-9, 2012, Peoples' Self-Help Housing hosted a two-day "Community Fence Painting Party" at Chapel Court Apartments in Carpinteria.
The 40-year old apartment complex is a 28-unit farmworker property. Thousands of feet of wooden fences surrounding each unit were painted by 50 resident and non-resident volunteers, including the efforts of staff from Citrix On-line as well as volunteers from All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church and San Marcos High School. The color of the new fencing will complement the new roofing and exterior paint work that is part of a $1 million rehabilitation effort at the complex which will begin in August.
